Getting to Koh Phangan is a combination of land/air and sea travel since the island does not have any airports. Most people fly into Koh Samui (USM) as this is the closest airport to that island. From Samui's piers, Lomprayah and Seatran Discovery run quite a few high-speed catamarans that get to Koh Phangan in about 30-50 minutes. A cheaper but lengthy alternative is to fly into Surat Thani (URT) on the mainland and take a combined bus-and-ferry ticket to the island.

You are very likely to dock at Thong Sala Pier upon getting to Koh Phangan, the main port of the island. From there, transportation is generally by 'songthaew,' or shared pickup truck taxi. These stand in line at the pier, their drivers shouting "Haad Rin!" to fill their trucks. The duration to Red Pearl Resort is between 20 and 30 minutes, costing a fixed price per person. Some, notably during the Full Moon Party time, may cut straight to Haad Rin Pier and this is extremely convenient as the resort is just a short distance from there.
